Classes

We are offering online and face to face/hybrid classes this year. Click here if you are interested in Greek School classes at the Olive Tree!

The classes are designed to promote cultural awareness, building literacy and communicating effectively in Greek. With small groups, the students have the advantage of individualized learning while maintaining the benefits of group work.   Students are placed in levels, and not grades according to American School although the numbers will sometimes coincide (ex. Grade 1 American School, Level 1 Greek School)   The levels are designed according to the American national standards (ACTFL guidelines).

Our school has created a curriculum that is based on cultural projects, interactive activities and theme-based units. The students will use a variety of books, videos, websites, poetry, art, literature and techonological platforms to achieve the learning objectives of each unit. Being a learner-centered enviornment, students often help in choosing the activities that will help to achieve the learning objectives.

Face to Face classes are offered on Saturdays for children ages pre-k-middle school at South Shore Charter Public School, 100 Longwater Circle, Norwell, MA.

This involves interactive games, using the Smart board, role-playing, crafts, presentations, group work, pair work and mentor work all are some of the many ways that Greek is made fun and accessible for the students.

Culture - Dance, Music and Food

Culture is an important component of our program.  Dance is incorporated into the curriculum and the students are taught a range of dances from island and traditional dances to modern.   Music and learning songs from all types of Greek genres are also a significant aspect to our school.   In each of our units, dance, music and food are learned and celebrated.
