Mission
At The Olive Tree GEEC, our mission is to provide high quality instruction in the Greek language, promote learning Greek as a second language in the United States, both in the heritage and world language context through innovative teaching practices, focus on proficiency, authentic cultural experiences, making connections to heritage and identity, enhancing cognitive abilities in an environment inclusive to all backgrounds of Greek and non-Greek ancestry, with the underlying spirit of solidarity, peace, support and respect for each other.
Curriculum
The curriculum at the Olive Tree Greek Education and Cultural Center follows the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages supported by ACTFL (American Council on Teaching Foreign Languages) with supplementary reference to the CEF (Common European Framework). It also accommodates students' individual needs, include history and heritage projects, authentic cultural experiences, focus on proficiency and building literacy.
The school also offers preparation for the Greek proficiency exams "Ellinomatheia" in which our faculty has years of training and experience with a high success rate of passing students.
