Classes

Classes are offered on Saturdays for children ages 4-13 at South Shore Charter Public School, 100 Longwater Circle, Norwell, MA.

The classes are designed to promote cultural awareness, building literacy and communicating effectively in Greek. With small groups, the students have the advantage of individualized learning while maintaining the benefits of group work.  The school schedule emphasizes "Center Time" in which they explore different aspects of language learning through stations.

Students are placed in levels, and not grades according to American School although the numbers will sometimes coincide (ex. Grade 1 American School, Level 1 Greek School)   The levels are designed according to the American national standards (ACTFL guidelines).

This involves interactive games, using the Smart board, role-playing, crafts, presentations, group work, pair work and mentor work all are some of the many ways that Greek is made fun and accessible for the students.

Culture - Dance, Music and Food

Culture is an important component of our program.  Dance is incorporated into the curriculum and the students are taught a range of dances from island and traditional dances to modern.   Music and learning songs from all types of Greek genres are also a significant aspect to our school.   In each of our units, dance, music and food are learned and celebrated.
